BTS Receives Special Mention In New Michael Jackson Documentary

In November 1982, American singer-songwriter Michael Jackson‘s album Thriller was released, which became the best-selling album of all time. In celebration of the album’s 40th anniversary, it was re-issued in 2022 as Thriller 40, and a year later, a new documentary debuted, sharing the same name, that celebrates Michael Jackson’s artistry.

The documentary featured music executives, esteemed professional dancers, legendary producers, actors, and fellow musicians and singers, all reacting to and breaking down the legacy of the “King of Pop.”

Steven Ivory, a music and culture journalist, declared, “I’m all in with BTS” before noting how the powerful septet’s dance moves, particularly in their 2020 hit song “Dynamite,” were influenced by Michael Jackson.

Nelson George, a journalist and music and culture critic, added that Michael Jackson’s influence can be heavily seen in K-Pop, regarding the well-crafted performances, choreography, and even clothing.

Following BTS’s shout-out and the subsequent praise, a side-by-side comparison of some of the dance moves from “Dynamite” was played alongside Michael Jackson’s own dance moves, showing the group’s homage to the American artist.

ARMYs are reacting to the mention in the documentary, sharing their pride as appreciation for BTS’s artistry continues to be recognized by some of the biggest names in music.

This isn’t the first time global powerhouse BTS has received a shoutout in relation to honoring Michael Jackson.

In 2021, Michael Jackson’s son, Prince Jackson, shared his appreciation for BTS honoring his late father. Check out more on that in the article below:
