In 2016, tvN released the supernatural crime thriller Signal starring the talented trio Kim Hye Soo, Lee Je Hoon, and Cho Jin Woong.
From the amazing acting to the well-done storyline, the K-Drama quickly earned praise as a masterpiece. It reached such high ratings that it became one of the highest-rated dramas on Korean cable and won awards for being the best drama of the year.
After earning so much success, viewers were eager for a second season—especially after the ending left it as a possibility. Writer Kim Eun Hee agreed and revealed that she was planning to write the second season. However, it didn’t work out how everyone hoped.
Despite Kim Eun Hee’s words, the company said the second season was still being discussed in 2017, with reports that it would air in 2018. Although the company finally announced they were preparing to film in 2019, they eventually admitted that the second season was delayed indefinitely for various reasons.
While seven years have passed since then, fans like ITZY‘s Yeji aren’t losing hope about seeing the second season. In fact, viewers aren’t the only ones who are hopeful.
During his recent You Quiz on the Block interview, Lee Je Hoon shared his wish for Kim Eun Hee to continue the story of Signal. Cho Jin Woong and Kim Hye Soo were also open to returning for the second season.
Kim Eun Hee has been busy writing other dramas like Kingdom and Revenant over the years, but the actors and fans are still holding out for Signal‘s sequel.
