WhatsApp banned a new record of over 4.5 million accounts in India during February for non-compliance with the new IT Rules 2021. In its monthly compliance report, the messaging app highlighted that over 1.2 million accounts had been proactively banned before reports were received from users. The report also showed that over 2,800 complaint reports had been received, with 504 resulting in remedial action.
